RIP skinny jeans
It’s no secret skinny jeans are over, and while last season was all about wide leg trousers, this spring/summer, flares are king.
Seen on the catwalk at Dior, Tibi and Red Valentino amongst others, it was only a matter of time until they made it to the high-street and cemented our love for all things 70s.
And the great news is there are plenty of ways to wear the trend for spring/summer. Go down the purist route and team high-waisted dark denim jeans (this style will elongate your legs) with a striped shirt and ankle boots.
For a summer rework, opt for a cropped flare in an off-white, teamed with a puff sleeve shirt and heeled mules in the same tones for a fresh look.
The summer fashion trends are also all about colour, and whether you’re team pastel or team Crayola brights, there’s a flare style for you. The important thing is to have fun with it, so you can go head-to-toe tonal, mix and match with different shades, or keep it simple by keeping the rest of the outfit neutral.
As for the length of the flares, there are plenty of fun cropped styles that make the trend workable on short women – and I would know, I’m 5ft3!
